Throughout the medical field, a biopsy is simply the removal of a tissue sample to determine if it is diseases. In dentistry, teeth, bone, and gums can be sent for biopsy. The role of a biopsy in the dentistry and any other medical specialty is to diagnose the disease process that is evident at a given site.
